Never jeopardize your principles and ethics. If your principles and ethics are jeopardized, maybe there’s an opportunity to help institutional partners learn and evolve, but if they’re unwilling to act I think you have to leave and cultivate a new partnership. This could be with another academic institution. Or, with the new investment from institutional funders in community archives, I think community archives are increasingly better positioned to have the capacity to engage in postcustodial partnerships themselves.
